The RSF has invested in the planging of trees to replenish the rainforest located in Central Indonesian Borneo as part of ongoing forestry restoration programs. We also support projects to hire patrols to protect national park sites against the effects of illegal logging and gold mining.
These projects maintain 12 police officers in guard posts and on five chartered boats, along with food, salaries, boat drivers, fuel, equipment, administration, and supplies.
The illegal loggers and miners now plundering the planet's rain forests are simply being driven by old-fashioned greed and that is why we will ultimately decide the orangutans' fate - and why we will ultimately hold the key to the world's future in their hands.
